Logistical challenges

The facility needed to move racks weighing up to 1,000 kg between the various picking points and the parcel preparation station for dispatch. Manual handling resulted in waiting times and posed a risk of accidents. It was essential to ensure a continuous, safe flow that was fully synchronised with customer orders.

Solution implemented

The AGVs travelled along a long aisle, eliminating the need for operators to drag heavy trolleys. When an operator places one or more boxes onto the trolley at each station, they confirm the action and the robot moves on to the next station, awaiting further confirmation. The aim is to prevent operators from carrying boxes from one point to another or dragging trolleys that become very heavy.

Results

The bidirectional vehicles optimised transport in narrow aisles, maintaining a constant supply between the finished goods warehouse and the pallet preparation stations for dispatch.
