Logistical challenges

The plant handled 250-litre steel drums weighing up to 3,000 kg, which were required for product testing, emptying and filling processes. It was essential to ensure safe, stable transport that was fully synchronised with the demand from each production area.

Solution implemented

Orbel Ingeniería installed two platform-type AGVs, guided by a magnetic strip, capable of safely transporting large-capacity drums between the various areas of the plant.

The system was integrated with the company’s fleet management system, so that every time a movement order was generated, the AGV automatically received the task with its start and end points specified, ensuring a continuous and precise flow.

Results

The occupational hazard associated with the manual handling of 3,000 kg drums has been eliminated, ensuring the stable transport of liquids between the intermediate storage area and the filling area.
