Logistical challenges
The plant needed to ensure a constant flow of 1,000 kg trolleys between two buildings connected by an elevated walkway. The manual process resulted in downtime and required complex coordination with lifts and operators. The challenge was to automate transport between the buildings whilst maintaining accuracy, safety and traceability.

Solution implemented
Orbel Ingeniería introduced autonomous vehicles of the mousefeaturing SLAM navigation and precise stops using a magnetic strip, capable of moving trolleys between the two buildings via the elevated walkway and automatically managing the lifts.
When an operator deposits a full trolley at a station, the system detects this and generates the corresponding task, sending a full trolley to the production building and returning an empty trolley to the raw materials store.

Results
The SLAM system made it possible to connect two buildings via an elevated corridor, controlling lifts and overcoming the complexity of navigating long stretches without physical guides.
